Empowering women for Brussels' energy transition!
🌟 For a democratic energy transition in Brussels 🌟
Join us the 11th of April at Mundo Madou!
If you know brupower, you know how our citizen cooperative is committed for a more just and democratic energy transition in Brussels.
However, it's not an easy walk in the park!
Despite strides forward, there's still a striking gender gap in our sector, and yes, it extends right into our own community.
Studies from the agencies like IRENA, reveal that only 32% of the renewable energy workforce is female. Numbers are even more marked in leadership roles: less than 15% of senior managers in the energy sector are women. Meanwhile, on a global level, the lack of access to clean energy particularly impacts women and in Brussels, more than 1 out of 4 brussels' citizens is touched by energy poverty, affecting again... mostly women.
So, can we change the narrative?
At brupower, we still have work to do too: less than 1 out of 3 brupower members are female (against 20% for the average of other belgian cooperatives). But our sights are set higher. We're determined to be the first belgian cooperative to hit a 50/50 gender balance by the end of 2024!
Are you with us?
