Brupower aims to empower every Brussels resident to become an engaged actor in the energy transition.
About us
Founded in May 2022, brupower is currently driven by over 40 volunteers (structured in working groups) and one employee, all contributing their skills, time, and energy to the project. Our volunteers bring expertise in various fields, including energy sector legislation, communication, citizen participation, photovoltaic project management, digital tools, and more.
Participatory democracy and social impact are at the core of our approach, shaping our statutes and guiding our organization.
To date, brupower has installed 276 kWp of photovoltaic capacity and, since January 2025, has been sharing its electricity production with its members. It is also recognized as the first citizen energy community in Brussels.
